Would buying portable massage tables and using extra heated padding and plush blankets give the same feeling as buying stationary massage tables.

Not all massage tables are built the same. Personally I prefer a hydraulic table. You never know the girth of the person who is going to be on the table. Having a hydraulic table enables you to adjust the height of the table after the person is on it. This will save the wear and tear on your therapists body.
